Who owns the tenant?
New tenants start unclaimed — everyone on your email domain shares the workspace free during beta. The first person to start paying takes management of the tenant (ownership, billing, settings); teammates who join later are covered by that plan. One team, one bill, one owner — no seat-haggling.
How retention shapes the tiers
Nocturnal Post's privacy model is retention-based: email-derived data ages out on a schedule. The free hosted tier keeps a rolling 8 days — enough for every daily briefing, follow-up, and search in the past week. Team extends that to 30 days, Scale is configurable. And because the platform is AGPL-3.0 open source, self-hosting lets you set the cap entirely — longer windows simply mean more history; the briefings work the same.
