Integration

IMAP Email Organizer

Any standards-compliant IMAP server can join the pipeline — fastmail, iCloud, a self-hosted Dovecot, your company's mail server. NocturnalPost normalizes IMAP mail into the same pipeline as Microsoft 365 and Gmail: classification, work items, briefings, and search.

What it does

Multi-account

Organize multiple IMAP accounts side by side — personal, family, and work inboxes in one briefing.

OAuth where available

Gmail IMAP uses OAuth (XOAUTH2); servers supporting OAuth never store passwords.

UID-incremental fetch

Only new mail transfers, tracked per folder with resumable sync state.

TLS required

Connections are TLS-only with a 30-second socket timeout — no plaintext, no silent downgrades.

Well-known hosts

gmail.com and googlemail.com map automatically; custom servers set a per-mailbox host.

App-password onboarding

No OAuth on your server? Connect with an app password — verified live before storage, encrypted per-tenant.

Self-Hosted email organizer

Point NocturnalPost at your own mail server — the whole platform is AGPL-3.0 open source.

Setup

  1. Sign in to NocturnalPost
  2. Add your IMAP mailbox — OAuth (Gmail) or app password + host
  3. IMAP folders are discovered automatically
  4. Select folders and pick a briefing schedule

Privacy

IMAP credentials are encrypted at rest and never displayed again after entry. Only selected folders are polled.

Frequently asked questions

Which IMAP servers are supported?

Any server supporting standard IMAP4rev1 over TLS. Gmail is covered by OAuth; other servers use a per-mailbox host setting.

Can I mix IMAP and Microsoft 365 accounts?

Yes — that's the point. Multiple accounts from different providers feed one normalized briefing.

Is IDLE (push) supported?

Not yet. IMAP mailboxes poll on the regular sync cycle; Microsoft 365 uses efficient delta queries. Push sync is on the roadmap.

What about self-hosted mail servers?

Explicitly supported — that's a core use case. Host the platform yourself, point it at your own server, keep everything in-house.
